As modern consumers, we have grown to expect our content experiences to be personalized and immediate. Thanks to our smartphones, we are accustomed to having access to endless amounts of information within seconds.

As I discuss in this week’s episode of Val·i·da·tion, the explosion of ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft is a great example of companies taking advantage of this desire for instant gratification. You press a few buttons on your phone and within minutes, a driver picks you up at your exact location.

At home, how we watch television has completely changed to reflect our content expectations. Live TV is taking a back seat to DVR, on demand, and mobile apps. We want to choose not only what we watch, but when and where we do it.
