We are looking for a talented and passionate Senior DevOps Engineer to join BrightTALK’s Operations team, working in (REGION) as part of our Global DevOps team.
The DevOps team is responsible for the ongoing monitoring, scaling, code deployment and health of our busy platform.

We’re a bright, friendly and hard-working team working on unique and interesting challenges that keep us continually learning and improving. Our DevOps team works closely with our software engineers and is part of the project from the initial business requirement to final production deployment - this provides plenty of scope for innovation.

The Senior DevOps Engineer role integrates strong problem-solving skills, significant AWS experience, Linux knowledge, scripting abilities, information security and debugging skills to implement continuous integration, delivery and deployment to optimize the operational aspects of our platform. The Sr. DevOps Engineer background includes experience in large-scale system administration and familiarity with Open Source and cloud services technologies, such as Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins, Docker and MySQL.

Responsibilities

  • Help to maintain the overall health and performance of our web applications and services
  • Build up and implement reliable infrastructure components to deliver secure and highly scalable services on the AWS platform
  • Automate the deployment, administration and monitoring of our large-scale Linux environments
  • Work with development teams to enhance, document, establish a process and improve the operability and security of our systems

Skills

  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies, cloud services and automation tools e.g. Ansible, Terraform, Packer, Jenkins
  • Solid scripting skills in one or more of: Python, Bash, Perl, Ruby, PHP
  • Familiarity with large-scale databases and proficiency in SQL, MySQL.
  • Expert knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
  • Experience working with containers such as Docker 
  • Experience writing tools for automation, configuration and build
  • Experienced with source code control (GitHub or Bitbucket)
  • A positive and creative approach to problem solving
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work with people from multiple technical disciplines e.g. dev / QA / product

Qualifications

  • At least 5  years experience building and maintaining production systems on AWS using EC2, RDS, S3, etc. and familiarity interacting with the AWS CLI is essential, AWS Certification is desirable
  • 3+ years provisioning and managing production infrastructure with Terraform
  • 2+ Experience managing Kubernetes clusters in a production environment
  • Experienced with source code control (GitHub or Bitbucket)
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix administration
  • Proven track record in taking responsibility for the delivery of projects.

Essential job functions:

  • Making outbound sales calls against an assigned territory
